Audit chain: detecting four tested modifications

An audit trail has engineering value when its recorded history can be checked for changes. The reported local test examined four such modifications.

An intact chain and deliberate changes

Verification accepted the unchanged reference chain. The tested modifications were a field change, insertion, removal and reordering. According to the reported results, the audit-chain checks detected all four tested modifications.

Why does this matter?

The result supports detection of the covered data changes in the examined local test. This helps with checking the integrity of recorded history and subsequent auditing. A traceable result also includes the tested version, environment and scope.

Where does the evidence stop?

The test concerns Hydra Core’s local audit-chain checks. It does not establish protection against every possible attack or the invulnerability of the entire platform in development. Independent evidence against rewriting the complete history requires a protected external reference; external audit-chain anchoring is not yet implemented.
